IIs a teaching certificate essential?
No. We hire on training and presence — can you break a step down and keep a nervous room with you? A qualification is a bonus, a DBS is a must (we'll help you sort it), and a good share of our teachers came from the stage rather than a college.
IIHow much work is there in a typical week?
It's set by you. Some instructors take a couple of Saturday hens a month around a season contract; class teachers hold one evening; a few do all three roles and treat it as a proper part-time job. Bookings only go into the days you've offered.
IIIAre the hen routines already choreographed?
Yes — each theme comes with a routine and a playlist ready to go, so the work is teaching it well and bending it to the group in front of you. Bring us a new theme of your own and we'll pay for the choreography separately.
IVIs it PAYE or self-employed?
Self-employed, paid per session at the hourly rate. That's what keeps the hours flexible. You'll need public liability insurance or the willingness to get some; it's cheap and we can point you at the usual providers.
VCan this sit alongside a summer-season show?
That's how several of our teachers do it. Hens run on weekend afternoons and classes on weekday evenings, so they slot around a show call or a day job without colliding.
VIWhere are the sessions?
Weekly classes: a studio in the town centre. Hens: mostly the function room we hire on Hornby Road, sometimes the group's own hotel along the front or the Fylde coast. Weddings: the couple's home or venue. Every booking comes with its location.
